In 1985, the family business switched to chicory cultivation after years of being a mixed horticultural and bulb-growing business. Now, the second generation, Pierre and John, are the driving force behind the company. Pierre’s wife Evelien also works there three days a week.
The decision to join TOLPOORT VEGETABLES stemmed from the desire to strengthen chicory’s position in the market as a main crop. Thanks to the collaboration within Tolpoort, there are short lines of communication and a clear focus on quality and sales.
In addition to farming, both brothers have their own passions. Pierre is an avid sailor as a crew member on the Goudvis and sits on the board of the EWVA water sports association in Enkhuizen. John enjoys running and working in his garden.
The collaboration with Tolpoort is considered very pleasant – working together to build a strong chicory sector.
