This family business has been active in cultivation since 1977, after the Het Grootslag polder was parceled out. Father then built the new business in Grootebroek and started with cauliflower, potatoes, tulips, and winter chicory in the greenhouse. In 1982, chicory grown in water was added, and broccoli was also taken up as a new crop.
After years of growth and mechanisation, they specialised entirely in chicory and broccoli. In 1993, Gert-Jan took over the business from his father and continued these crops. He now runs the partnership together with his wife. Their sons are studying, but still help out regularly.
The choice for TOLPOORT VEGETABLES was based on its clear, streamlined and transparent organisation.
In addition to farming, there is also time for leisure activities, with ice skating and cycling being favourite pastimes.
