Verhage Witlof B.V.

In 1974, grandfather and father started growing chicory in open ground, without covering soil. Six years later, the company moved to its current location to continue growing and switch to water-based chicory cultivation. The third generation is now at the helm of this unique family business, where everything is done in-house: from seed to chicory head, in the middle of the best growing area.

In addition to the 50-hectare chicory farm, the company also has a 120-hectare arable farm, growing crops such as chicory roots, seed onions, sugar beets and grain. Part of the land is leased to fellow farmers for the cultivation of tulips and potatoes.

It really is a family business: Rudy works alongside his parents Wim and Hendrika, his wife Sonja and their children Lars, Stijn and Lise, who also regularly lend a hand.

The decision to choose TOLPOORT VEGETABLES was made on the basis of transparency and joining forces – together we are stronger.

In his spare time, Rudy enjoys cycling, although that has been put on hold for now. But who knows, maybe soon again! 🚴‍♂️

Together, we make a difference.

We work with as many as 16 growers throughout the Netherlands and Spain, who together ensure the supply of high-quality vegetables, with constant focus on quality, freshness and efficiency.
