Aik Ruiter’s family business has a rich history in horticulture. The company was founded in 1930, and since 1975 they have specialised in chicory grown hydroponically. Aik represents the fourth generation of growers, with a family history dating back to his great-grandfather Simon Ruiter.

Cooperation is in their DNA: parents, uncles, aunts, cousins all work together, and on Saturdays even the youngest generation helps out. The decision to join TOLPOORT VEGETABLES stemmed from a desire for greater transparency and joint sales power.

Farming is not just work, but also a passion. As an old sign in the barn says: ‘If you turn your work into your hobby, you’ll never have to work again.’ Nevertheless, Aik also makes time for running and swimming.
